Top Ten!

by John Folk-Williams

I’m excited and honored that Psych Central has selected Storied Mind as one of the top ten depression blogs for 2008. What makes this a special honor is that Psych Central, as it says on its welcome page, “is the Internet’s largest and oldest independent mental health network created and run by mental health professionals to provide reliable, trusted information and self-help support communities, for over 16 years.”

It’s wonderful to be in such great company with Therese Borchard, Katharine Stone, Douglas Cootey, the thoroughly anonymous author of Chunks of Reality, Etta of Depression Marathon, and others whom I will soon get to know better.

Thank you, Psych Central!

    John!

Thank gawd you blogged about this because I would have never known!

First off, congratulations for receiving this wonderful award. It’s not shocking at all and you most certainly deserve it!

As for me, I have no idea how they found my blog or why mine was in the list because there are other blogs out there SOOO much more deserving than mine (like yours!!!!).

Congrats so much! I feel so very honored and proud to be in the same company as you, my friend.

Etta – Congratulations! Thank you for being so kind – I agree that the community is the amazing part of this experience. And you are a big part of the community that I have found so supportive, so open, so deep-hearted, so wise in the midst of so much pain. Thanks for being you! Have a great new year –

Merely Me – Thank you! You’re one of the big reasons this last year of blogging has been so rewarding. I want to thank you for all the inspiration and insight that characterize your writing. Your posts on Health Central over the last several months have been right on, every time. Beautiful work. Let’s both keep at it! I hope your holiday is going well and that you have one or two reasons, among the ten, to stay out of depression!

Immi – Thank you – I hope your holiday is going well – and that you’ve gotten over that yucky spell. Have a great new year!

    My dear friend John,

I’d actually seen the awards post early that day, but I didn’t want to spoil the surpirse.

I am absolutely thrilled that you have been acknowledged by such a significant site. You are a brilliant, evocative and insightful writer.

May your new year be the beginning of a new time of peace, health, happiness and real joy. Take care, my friend and love yourself as you love others.

    Hey John,

You deserve it! I have learned so much from your site. I don’t know that much about male depression, (I am a girl, obviously), but I get such perspective from you and it helps.

John — This is fantastic (and I’m not surprised — you have a writer’s ability to capture your experiences through words)! This post also reminded me that I haven’t been to Etta’s site in a while.

    Congratulations!

    Congrats on that, John.

There are a number of great sites that you share that list with! While I’ve only been following you for about a month, your writing is magical – almost poetic – on such a hard topic to deal with.

    Congrats again!
